Claude memory is full? Keep your useful context in Jackdaw
Review the facts Claude remembers, put the durable ones in Jackdaw, and let Claude retrieve them when needed.
If Claude says its stored memory is full, the useful next step is to decide which facts still matter. You can keep those facts in Jackdaw and connect Claude to them. This gives you a place to maintain the same context for other AI tools, too.
This walkthrough is for Claude's saved memories. A message about a usage limit or a conversation's context window is a different issue; connecting Jackdaw does not raise those limits.
1. Review what Claude remembers
Open Claude → Settings → Memory and read the individual Topics. You can also ask Claude to write out its memories, but compare the answer with the memory panel before relying on it. Claude's memory guide explains how to view and edit Topics; its export guide describes another way to copy them out.
Make a short list of facts you still want an AI to use: your current role, active projects, recurring preferences, and decisions that remain in force. Drop stale versions and one-time requests. Check sensitive details before copying them into another service.
2. Put the current facts in Jackdaw
In your Jackdaw workspace, open your Context page and edit your profile fields or notes. Put project-specific context on that project's Wiki page. For example:
“The Northwind launch is paused until the security review is complete. Priya owns the review.”
You can create a project page if one does not exist yet. Check the resulting page and review any extracted suggestions before treating them as established facts. This is a manual, selective move: Jackdaw does not currently import Claude's saved memory or chat-history export automatically.
3. Let Claude read Jackdaw
In Claude.ai, add a custom connector using:
Sign in to Jackdaw, choose the workspace you just updated, and grant Read. Grant Write only if you also want Claude to save facts you directly state, suggest property changes, or edit existing document pages. Identity details, corrections, and conflicts wait for review. See Connect Claude.ai for the connector walkthrough.
In a new Claude chat, test one specific fact:
“Use Jackdaw's
get_contextfor this question: What is the current status of the Northwind launch, and who owns the security review?”
Check the answer against the Jackdaw page. If Claude instead repeats an old fact from its own memory, edit or delete that particular Topic in Claude → Settings → Memory, then test again. Claude's native memory and Jackdaw are separate stores; connecting one does not erase or update the other.
4. Keep it current once
When a durable fact changes, update the Jackdaw page or correct it in Jackdaw and settle any Inbox review. A connected AI can then retrieve the new version. Add the same Jackdaw workspace to another tool with one memory across your coding tools.
MCP makes Jackdaw available for Claude to pull relevant context. For an important question, explicitly ask Claude to use get_context and check what it returned; a connector does not guarantee that Claude calls the tool on every turn.
