Source documents and evidence

Inspect the preserved source, its versions, and the knowledge Jackdaw derived from it.

Source documents let you check what a connected document actually said before relying on a fact derived from it. Jackdaw keeps the captured source separate from the Wiki's interpretations. An imported document is evidence; selecting it for sync does not approve every claim extracted from it.

Find a source document

  1. Open Connections in the workspace where the document was selected.
  2. In Source documents, open a recent item or choose Browse to see the full inventory.
  3. Open a document to read the version Jackdaw captured. Use Open original to visit the live file at its provider when that link is available.

Selected organization document sources are one way to populate this inventory. If the document you expected is missing, a workspace admin can check the selection under Organization connections and choose Sync now. The initial sync and extraction can take time, and source permissions still determine who can read each item. See Connect sources.

Read the source before its interpretation

The document view leads with preserved content. Depending on the source format, it may show tabs, headings, lists, tables, links, an exact text view, or a Source outline built from the original wording. The outline helps you scan a long document; it is not an AI summary.

Knowledge from this version appears separately. Each item is a claim Jackdaw extracted from that particular version, with a destination in the Wiki and a review state. When an item is reviewable, you can Accept, Correct, or Reject it. These choices change the interpretation Jackdaw trusts; they do not edit the preserved document or the provider's original.

Check what changed

Open Versions to inspect earlier captured revisions. A citation can refer to an older version even after the live document changes. The full inventory also keeps a source marked Removed from source when a completed sync no longer sees it, so you can still inspect its captured history.

Turning off a selected source or disconnecting its provider is different: the confirmation explains that imported data from that source will be removed. Read it before changing a connection.
